Biography:
Originally from the parish of Camacha, João Correia was born on October 7, 1974. He taught between 1990 and 1992 at the Banda Paroquial de São Lourenço da Camacha.
Has served as a teacher / coordinator at the Conservatory – Madeira Arts Training School – Extension of Camacha between 1999 and 2003.
In 2002, he took the jazz course, in the instrument Trompete, at the jazz school Luiz Villas-Boas, in collaboration with the Conservatoire – vocational school of arts of Madeira.
In 2003, he was trumpet player in the Big Band National Youth, and between 2003 and 2006, he was trumpet player in the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra, participating in several jazz workshops between 2004 and 2005.
In 2008, he completed his studies in music in the jazz variant at the Higher School of Music, Art and Entertainment of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto.
Between 2008 and 2009, he was a professor at the Graciosa Island Music Academy and, between 2009 and 2010, he taught at André de Resende Elementary School – Évora School Group No. 2.
He completed the first year of the Master in Music Therapy in 2012 and since 2013 he has been a music therapist at GIG – music school, in Funchal.
He was the creator of the concept of the street band “Os Camachofones”, whose band is until now composer and performer.
He has been professor / coordinator at Banda Filarmónica do Caniço e Eiras between 2016 and 2017.
He is conductor of Banda Filarmónica do Faial.
