Foundation.
The Banda Municipal Paulense was founded with the name of the Sociedade Filarmónica Paulense on September 4, 1874. Its founder Arsénio Gonçalves de Santa Ana was the first president of the Direction and regent, António de Andrade and Manuel Joaquim de Coito Junior. Church Orchestra.
In 1888, the press reported on this date, that the Filarmónica Paulense, had a church orchestra. (Músicos Madeirenses pág. 475).
Master Arsénio Gonçalves de Santa Ana.

New denomination.
In 1929, the Filarmónica Paulense, in connection with a visit to its members residing in the Estreito da Calheta, this philharmonic came under the name of the Filarmónica Monte Carmo do Paul do Mar, accompanied by the president, Mr. Justino Abreu Santos.(Músicos Madeirenses pág. 475)
Name change.

Reagent António Santos Coito.

Centennial anthem.

Conductor Manuel Patrício Gonçalves Balelo (Teixeira).

Association legally recognized.
