The Banda Filarmónica de Santo António was founded on January 6, 2010, by the initiative of Rui Rodrigues, a former performer of the Banda Municipal do Funchal – Artistas Funchalenses and founding member of the Banda Filarmónica do Caniço e Eiras , and in direct partnership with the Parish Council of Santo António, then chaired by Rui Santos.
