História da Banda de Música da Freguesia do Arco de São Jorge

One of the ways to perpetuate the history of a philharmonic band is through the writing of a book. In this particular case we have the book of the Banda do ARco de São Jorge, which was written by its founder Silvano Cardoso. This book is described the period before the foundation until 1940. It is possible to read in this book how the process of formation of the band until its foundation was. It includes the way the future musicians were chosen, the necessary requirements and all the preparation for the day of the foundation. In this book it is also possible to verify the devotion that its founder had to Nossa Senhora de Fátima giving the name of the band (Banda-Escola Nossa Senhora de Fátima) as a homage to the saint, not wondering the date chosen for the foundation to be the 13 of October of 1933. There are many stories that musicians experience in the band, such as the tours to the other side of the island to play, where they describe the routes and the way they were made.
