Biografía:
Son of José Alexandre da Costa Jardim and Maria Teresa Gomes Lira, Élio Cristiano Gomes Jardim is a native of Ponta do Sol, where he was born on July 24, 1975.
He began his studies in music at the Casa do Povo da Ponta do Sol with only 5 years old, having entered the Municipal Band with just 10 years. His first performance at this institution took place when he was fourteen.
He graduated in Music Education from the Escola Superior de Educação in Lisbon and took the Jazz course at CEPAM.
He collaborates as a performer, in several events and with several groupings, among which are different Regional Philharmonic Bands, Pestana Big Band, Big Band of the CEPAM Jazz Course, CEPAM Wind Orchestra, Carnival Troupes, among others.
He is the author of some of the birthday marches of the Banda Municipal da Ponta do Sol, as well as some light music arrangements for this collectivity.
He has been teaching music education at B+S Padre Manuel Álvares since 2000. He has been president of the Banda Municipal da Ponta do Sol since 2006 and later assumed the position of conductor in April 2007.
