Biography:
Conductor Manuel Duarte Silva Ferreira was born in Funchal on July 7, 1976 and started his musical studies at the Banda Municipal de Santana in 1989. He joined the Madeira Conservatory of Music in 1993, completing the Complementary Music Course of the Class Trombone in 2002. From 1997 to 2005 he was a musician of the Madeira Classic Orchestra in Bass Trombone. From 2011 to 2013, he was trombonist of Pestana Big Band at Madeira Casino.

He began his career as a conductor in the XXV Cycle of Improvement of Regents Amateur Regents of Inatel Music Groups in 1996. He attended master classes in group leadership in 2004 and 2005 with Professor Mitchell J Fennell of Cal University State Fullerton, and with the commissioner José Brito of the PSP Symphonic Band in 2005. Since 1999, he has been artistic / educational director of the Banda Municipal de Santana.
