Founded on August 10, 1973, by the Reverend Priest António Joaquim Figueira Pestana Martinho, the Banda Paroquial de São Lourenço da Camacha, had in this man, all the effort and the whole idea of forming the collectivity. Determined and determined he managed to achieve his dream – to form a Parish band. From the maestro José da Costa Miranda, the parish priest had both excellent collaborators, men cultivated in musical art, possessors of a great humanity. With them and with the collaboration of the parishioners the Priest Pestana Martinho gave body to its attempt.

As Bandas da Ponta do Sol

We can never say that the band from Ponta do Sol was one of the first in Madeira. When this group was founded, there were already 10 bands, four in Funchal and the rest distributed by our rural environment. Hino do Município de Santa Cruz

Recording of the anthem of the Município de Santa Cruz was held on October 29, 2016 in the Igreja Matriz da Camacha, directed by conductor José Manuel Teixeira, with 83 participants, 47 musicians from the three bands of the municipality, Banda Filarmónicas do Caniço e Eiras , Banda Municipal Santa Cruz and Banda Paroquial de São Lourenço da Camacha, and 35 members of the Chorus of the Santo Condestável School.

Saudades da Madeira
